ONE BEING
With thanks to Rev. Linda McNamar and the Science of Mind magazine (a GREAT publication - if you're interested, e-mail me for info) I ran across this quote from Paul Brunton, from his The Spiritual Crisis of Man
Like millions of trees which are all rooted in one and the same earth, so
millions of humans are rooted in one and the same universal being.
I would be the first, from a human being standpoint, to agree with the title of the book relating to “where we are” these days. So many things that appear to be a threat to our security seem to spell crisis. However, when I stop a moment and breathe, and give my part of Universal Mind a chance to think, I get past the title and listen to the idea. “...so millions of humans are rooted in one and the same universal being.” Maybe we’re not as smart as the trees! It just seems to me that, as the expression of Creation (God, Spirit - that Infinite Givingness that is all of Wisdom and the power of Love) we're still not “getting it.” There is a better way for humans to relate with one another as unified “in the one and the same universal being.” I can't help but wonder what stops our practice of this Truth. Is it our attempt to understand complete oneness with a mind (brain) that seems separate? Does that lead to our tendency to build defining mental walls, and then justify the process of separation by calling it religion? Years ago I understood, for me, this meant putting limitations on the Allness of God. I couldn't understand limiting Omnipotence, Omniscience, Omnipresence to the form of a punitive/loving (?) man sitting on a throne in the sky, holding a dove in one hand and lightning bolts in the other!
In removing the limitations, we must admit that humankind's inhumanity to humankind lies somewhere in the “possibilities.” of Allness. It is. Hatred comes from fear. Fear comes from the thought of being separate. It's a direct result of our gift of choosing. This is what we teach - that the ideas we choose affect the form of our lives. I might get some argument about our being in crisis, but I know we are in a hefty “OPPORTUNITY.” Peace comes from within - that's where our name came from... reminder. We get to choose our ideas, our thoughts about one another; our thoughts about diverse expression of “...one and the same universal being.” This is where our roots are - we come from Wisdom and Love - and Creation doesn't judge! Creation just gives, and does so joyfully. Creation is idea (Wisdom) becoming form (through the power of Love). Let us choose to be aware of the idea we select!
Namaste,
Jon
